Humans of CUC

14 Sep 2023

From a young age, I was told not to pursue a career in the equine industry. It’s hard work, and there’s no financial stability.
For years, even after high school, this advice held me back. Out of school, I moved away to study something else, and I never finished the degree.
It took a few years, but I think the second attempt at uni happened at the right time for me. I’d learnt by then that everything is hard work anyway, and a large paycheck doesn’t mean much if your heart’s not in it. Give me sunshine, horsehair up my nose, dirty fingernails over corporate life and slaving away to meet someone else’s goals.
Online study was a perfect choice. This time around, I was starting a small business and settled here. I didn’t want to leave my family, friends, hometown, or horses. That’s what I was always interested in – horses and what happens inside these beautiful four-legged creatures we love. Give me a crazy research project any day!
So, yes, I’m studying equine science!
The journey here has taught me just how important it is to balance goals, life, business, and study. This balance is what has led to financial stability AND happiness.
